Physiotherapy

The physiotherapy service provides assessment and treatment for children at Kingfisher School who have physical difficulties. This may include exercise programmes, hydrotherapy, positioning and the provision of equipment to meet the individual’s needs.

The aim of physiotherapy input is to encourage the development of gross motor skills, to maintain good posture and body shape, joint range and muscle length and to promote improved function and independence. A 24 hour approach to posture management is vital and the team work with parents, carers and educational staff to empower them to manage the child’s physical difficulties at home and school by continuing with positioning and exercise programmes.
