Executive Principal’s Newsletter – Spring 1 2024
‘Hairy Scary Beast’

Friday 16th February 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

This has been a relatively short half term compared to the previous one! It’s nice to see the mornings getting lighter and the nights getting a bit longer now. We have avoided any snow days so far – lets hope that this continues into March!

There have been a few whole school events this half term starting with our annual ‘Living Eggs’ who were housed at Halcyon Way. From the 10 eggs that were incubated we had 6 successful hatchings! Some of the children named them:

  • Mr Swim 🐥
  • Wonka 🐥
  • Flower 🐥
  • Walker 🐥
  • Benny 🐥
  • Jelly 🐥

Such fabulous names! The children from both schools were introduced to them and some even handled them.

Chinese New Year was a popular celebration with the children exploring Chinese food and clothes.

As you may be aware there is a lot of information in the media at the moment regarding measles and the impact it can have on both children and adults. There are currently no conformed cases within Oldham and the main cases seem to be in the Midlands. However, to ensure that an outbreak in Oldham doesn’t occur Public Health are encouraging families to get vaccinated – both children and adults. A letter has been sent out this week with further information around this.

Next half term is an even shorter one – we will be finishing for Easter on Friday 28th March. Within the half term Vicky Montgomery (PPM Officer) will be leaving Kingfisher in order for her to spend time with her family. I know the impact she has had on many families at Kingfisher over the years and I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to her. She has assured me that she will keep in touch and will visit.

I hope you all have a restful half term and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Monday 26th February.

Regards,

Sue Caine
