General Primary

Primary (3-7 years age range or 5-11 years age range) 2018-2019

Working in partnership with Leeds Beckett University, we are pleased to offer a one-year Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) programme of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) to achieve the professional standards required for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Our intention is to recruit up to 16 trainees for either the 5-11 age range (UCAS code 2FZ2) or specialising in the 3-7 age range (UCAS code 2GPB).

Based on previous years, prospective applicants should consider early application!

We will provide students with:

  • academic tuition through lectures, seminars and tutorials with both University and School based staff
  • teaching experience through placements in Mainstream and Special School provision across our partnership schools
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), the accreditation that enables you to teach in state-maintained and special schools in England and Wales.

Our PGCE programme focuses on the development of the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding that relate to learning and teaching in schools.

Both School and University aspects of the programme count towards the assessment of the PGCE and as evidence that you have met the standards for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
